Fatty Infiltration of the Interventricular Septum

E-chocardiography Journal: Alphabetical List / Chronological List / Images / Home Page

Fatty (see MRI below) infiltration of the interventricular septum. The history is unremarkable except for palpitations. The echocardiographic appearance is a homogeneous increase in reflectivity of the basal and mid portions of the interventricular septum. In the apical four chamber view, a reverberation artifact gives a false impression of a right atrial mass. There are no valvular abnormalities. In the parasternal long axis view, the basal and mid portions of the interventricular septum are very bright without evident attenuation.
