Serial transesophageal echocardiographic images of the
mitral valve showing the appearance following the
Alfieri mitral valve repair procedure. A stitch approximates
the edges of the posterior and anterior mitral leaflets.
It is also called the "bow-tie", or double orifice repair.
The location of the suture is based on the location of the
mitral insufficiency jet.
