Log on to the computer that you are using for PediHeart (it must have the e-mail address that you are using to get PediHeart)
Send e-mail to: listproc@medisun.ucsfresno.edu
Include in the body of the message the following words:
SET PEDIHEART
and send the letter off.
Later PediHeart will answer with a short message that will include the
following line: PASSWORD: xxxxxxxxxxx (usually a long number). This is
your temporary password, randomly assigned to you.
These passwords are difficult to remember so it is suggested that you change
it. To do this send e-mail to: listproc@medisun.ucsfresno.edu
and include in the body of the message the words:
SET PEDIHEART PASSWORD OLD_PASSWORD NEW_PASSWORD
(OLD_PASSWORD is the one assigned to you, NEW_PASSWORD is the one you choose).
USE CAPS ONLY.
Access the PediHeart www page
Go to the PediHeart home page (http://www.ucsfresno.edu/pediheart)
Click on "archives"
For user ID enter your e-mail address exactly as you are known by the PediHeart.
For Password enter the PASSWORD that you set up for yourself
(see above). (This can be done from any computer, not just the one that
you used to subscribe from).
The rest is more or less self explanatory.
Once you get used to using the Web to access PediHeart, you should unclutter your mailbox by trying one of the following:
1. Send e-mail to listproc@medisun.ucsfresno.edu and include in the body of the message:
SET PEDIHEART MAIL POSTPONE
This will stop PediHeart from sending you messages. However; you are still a member. This one works well when you go on vacation, also).
2. Send e-mail to listproc@medisun.ucsfresno.edu
and include in the body of the message :
SET PEDIHEART MAIL DIGEST
This will make PediHeart to send you messages once a day in the DIGEST format.
To undo either send the message: SET PEDIHEART MAIL ACK.
If you receive a message from listserver indicating that your are not member while you receive messages from PediHeart regularly, this indicates that the "return address" reported by your mailserver is different from your initial registration. Often an email user has more than one email address which may all be different from what the mailserver attaches to your posted message as return address. Normally all of the members are registered as this reported e-mail address. However; at times, this address is changed without your knowledge. If you have this problem send a message to pediheart-owner@medisun.ucsfresno.edu and ask for an addition of alias. This way the PediHeart listserver knows your new address.
Listserver issues and attaches a Message ID to every email distributed to the members. These ID numbers are saved for future inspection to make sure no message is sent twice to a user. When you as a member reply to a posted message just make sure that this message ID is either removed or indented with some character like > in front of it. Most mailers automatically do this for you.
This is usually caused by a problem at the recipient system. The most common problem is caused by your mailbox reaching the quota set by your system administrator. Either ask for a larger limit or clean your mailbox more often. Another reason for this problem is caused when your mailserver is disconnected from the world more than a few days. PediHeart attempts to resend those messages for 5 days before removing the member.
