What is PediHeart ?
PediHeart is a mailing list on the Internet. Any E-mail sent ("posted")
to PediHeart will be automatically re-routed to all subscribers. The
purpose is to provide a means of communication for professionals involved
in the care of children with heart disease.
How does it work ?
If you "post" a note on PediHeart, within minutes it will appear in all
subscriber's E-mail, anywhere in the world. When you check your E-mail
you will find items sent by other subscribers. You may ignore them,
read them or answer them. If you think that it is of general interest,
you post your answer on PediHeart and all subscribers will be able to read
it. Alternatively, you may answer by personal E-mail or by other means.
If enough people become interested in PediHeart your E-mail will contain a
stream of discussion on Pediatric Cardiology & Cardiac Surgery.
Why is it good ?
Imagine that for a few minutes every day one would be able to get
together hundreds of experts in various aspects of Pediatric Cardiology
and Cardiac Surgery. They would come from all over the world and the
meeting would always take place at the most convenient place and time for
you, no matter where you were. You could ask any questions and some
people may volunteer to answer. Your could listen to the exchange of
ideas or skip any topics that you were not interested in. Once you
identified a person with like interests, you could have either a private
dialogue or a public discussion.
Who may subscribe ?
Any health professional involved or interested in Pediatric Cardiology
or Cardiac Surgery with an E-mail address on the Internet, anywhere in the
world. Various Universities and corporation are linked to the Internet.
Commercial on line services that can send and receive E-mail through the
Internet include Compuserve, Prodigy, America Online, Delphi and others.
How much does it cost ?
The service is provided free by the Computer Center of U.C.S.F.- Fresno
Central San Joaquin Valley Medical Education Program and the Departments
of Cardiology & Cardiothoracic Surgery and the Department of
Anesthesiology and PICU at Valley Children's Hospital in Fresno,
California. E-mail is free on many systems, however some commercial
online services may have surcharges on E-mail. If you receive a lot of
E-mail this may become a significant expense. Check before subscribing.
PLEASE READ BEFORE SUBSCRIBING
A condition of the subscription to PediHeart is that participants
understand and agree to the condition below. If you do not fully agree
with the condition listed below, both in spirit and in the letter, please
do not subscribe or post on PediHeart.
PediHeart is a vehicle designed to facilitate communication between
private individuals. It does not monitor, moderate, judge, censor or
promote the content of the messages sent to it. Individuals posting
messages on PediHeart bear the sole responsibility for the content of their
messages, as well as for any consequences resulting form sending the
messages via PediHeart. Commercial advertizing is not allowed on
PediHeart. UCSF, Valley Children's Hospital or any persons
involved in the operation of PediHeart bear no responsibility whatsoever
for the content or any damages, direct, indirect, consequential or
otherwise resulting from the activities on PediHeart or from any
action or lack of action that they may have in their relation with the
PediHeart mailing list.
PediHeart may reject any applicant for any reason whatsoever, may
terminate the membership of any subscriber at any time without reason,
may stop operation at any time without prior warning and may restrict
access of any individual to PediHeart. PediHeart may or may not keep
records of the messages sent through the system and it does not guarantee
the accuracy of the messages transmitted.
